Recall cards on the circulatory and lymphatic system infections of microbiology. Anatomy: the closed circulatory system and the four-chambered heart, the arteries, veins, and capillaries, the spleen and liver, and the lymphatic system with its lymph, lymph nodes, and primary and secondary lymphoid tissues. Signs and conditions: bacteremia, septicemia, viremia, toxemia, sepsis and SIRS, endocarditis, pericarditis, myocarditis, vasculitis, lymphangitis, and buboes. Bacterial infections: toxic shock syndromes, rheumatic fever, bacterial endocarditis, gas gangrene, tularemia, brucellosis, cat-scratch disease, plague, the tickborne rickettsial and ehrlichial diseases, the typhus fevers, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, Lyme disease, and relapsing fever. Viral infections: infectious mononucleosis and Burkitt lymphoma, cytomegalovirus, yellow fever, dengue, chikungunya, Ebola, the hantaviruses, and HIV and AIDS. And parasitic infections: malaria, toxoplasmosis, babesiosis, Chagas disease, leishmaniasis, and schistosomiasis.
